Welcome

Hello, I am Catherine Young and I am honoured to be the Headteacher of this vibrant and outstanding school.

St Benet’s is a very special school – special because of our staff, our families, our parish, our community and of course, our wonderful children! Our school is a small Catholic primary school which serves the parish of St. Joseph’s, Birtley in the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. We are one of 48 schools in the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust. We see it as our mission to spread the Gospel through our aspirations and care for the children in our school. Further to this, we believe that we have a mission to our families and the wider

Our Values

St Benet’s is a happy and holy place of learning and the centre of a thriving community.

  • Create a Christ-centered family where all children, parents, staff, governors and visitors are welcomed and valued.
  • Provide an inclusive and reflective learning environment which promotes growth, unity and equality for all.
  • Ensure that our curriculum provides a wealth of opportunity and challenge, which nurtures respect and tolerance for all.

Letters

We send out letters and newsletters on a regular basis to keep parents up to date with school decisions and progress.

At St Benet's, we keep our parents, carers and families informed about upcoming events and celebrations of our children's successes. We regularly publish a newsletter, which is sent out electronically to all of our parents and is made available on this page. We also use Social media to share the very latest events, learning and religious celebrations that take place within our school.
